“Why are you both pink?” Colson asked sipping his drink and wiggling his eyebrows. You both shook your heads at the jokesters behind you. “Oh, no! I totally haven’t met him or anything like that,” you said sarcastically making your way to him for a hug as well. “Y/N you’ve met Rook before,” Dub gestured over to the drummer who was glaring at him. You made your way to Baze and Dub giving them each a hug. You scrunched your face at him causing him to mimic you. “You’re messing up the look,” he huffed pretending to fix his hair. You heard some awes surface form the others while Colsons just laughed and tried to uncover his face. “Happy birthday bestie,” you cooed wrapping your arms around Colson’s head and resting your head on the top of his. After getting distracted several times, you managed to discover the group of them sitting at a table chattering. You cruised your way to where the guys were, making occasional stops to say your hellos to some mutual friends such as Sterling and Marilyn. The guys were up to something but what it was exactly was beyond you. You waved him off shaking your head and chucking to yourself. “Hey I have to run and do something real quick but Kells and everyone is over there,” he informed you before being pulled aside by some friends. “Not tonight! I want to be able to actually party and not end up on the floor,” you quipped nudging him a bit only causing him to smile and shake his head. “No heels or dress tonight?” he asked looking at your outfit. “Good, good, glad you made it out,” he squeezed you. “Hey, how are you?” you shouted over the music giving him a hug. You felt hands bounce on your shoulders which meant he made his way to you rather than force you to find him. You paused and glanced around to find him among the partiers. The music was loud, liquor was out, and people were enjoying themselves. “Y/N!” you heard Slim yell from somewhere at the party. You couldn’t make out the voice in the back but at the same time, he always had someone over so it wasn’t a surprise. You laughed and shook your head at the abrupt ending to the call. I’ll see you later,” he rushed before hanging up the phone. “Huh? Yeah I’m talking to her, why? No, I wasn’t kidding,” he whispered to someone in the background followed by more mumbling. He understood you in a way that you didn’t quite understand yourself and you understood him in a similar way. You found talking to him was almost therapeutic. The two of you spent some time catching up on life since you had been apart for a while working on your individual projects. “Wild boy and wild child,” he joked, poking fun at your short stature. Ever since that night you two had kept in touch and became really close friends. Immediately you apologized but he encouraged you to continue even joining in himself. You were really into the band playing and ended up bumping into him while dancing. You had met Colson roughly three years ago at a concert. “I would not pass up such a party because that’s kind of our thing,” you informed him. Hey, are you gonna make it tonight?” he asked, referring to his big birthday bash. “Happy birthday you old fuck,” you giggled into the phone. Summary - Colson plays matchmaker with his two friends.
